Challenge
Carbide tools are manufactured from bar stock of a specified length. To efficiently utilize this expensive raw material, the blanks must fill the bars as completely as possible.
If the blanks have different lengths, waste can be reduced by cleverly varying the production sequence. With thousands of blanks, this optimization is no longer feasible by hand.
Solution
From a list of production orders, the Workflow Optimizer uses classic optimization algorithms and heuristics to calculate the ideal production sequence for the blanks. The relevant process parameters are freely configurable.

Workflow Optimizer automatically calculates the optimal production sequence with the aim of saving as much raw material as possible.
Optionally, production orders can be supplemented with the production of stock items. This often allows waste to be almost completely eliminated.
